Fail

So I thought I would be so good at keeping everyone updated with my blog... But as you can see, it's been a major fail thus far. So here's a recap of what's been happening the past 3 weeks. =) Sorry I don't have many pictures this time. My first Sunday back on campus was the College Night Ribbon Hanging, which takes place at midnight. Gotta love college.

A few purple Alpha Gams hanging their purple ribbons.

Katie with her Sis-Daughter Barbara hanging gold and purple ribbons.

GV Kellie Maluff!!

My sister Lauren's baby shower was 2 weeks ago, so we all made the trip to Bessemer to show our support.

Little Kinleigh was born on Thursday and is absolutely beautiful!! Congratulations Lauren!!

More to come soon I promise!!

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog! This is all very new to me, so bear with me, and I'll get the hang of it eventually. There's nothing really to post yet, since I'm still in New Hope, but I'll post some pictures from my last Montevallo trip. These are from Bid Day 2009. I'll explain a little about what that is for those of you who aren't familiar with sororities. The recruitment (formerly known as rush) process lasts a total of five days. The potential new members (PNMs) are divided up into five groups, and they go to a "party" for each sorority. (These parties are really just informative meetings to get to know the girls.) After all the parties are over, the potential new members narrow down their selections for which sorority they would like to receive a bid from. After four days of mutual selections by both the sororities and the PNMs, the final bid list is given to the sororities so that they can see who they are going to call sister.

See how happy they are?

At 5:30 PM, the sororities walk out to the quad to await the arrival of the PNMs. Then they put their beautiful voices to work and begin singing and cheering in support of their sorority.

Eventually, the PNMs show up, and the cheering gets even louder. Once they are seated on the steps of Palmer, they are given an envelope with the name of the sorority they are now a part of sealed inside. They have to sit on their envelope until they have all been passed out. Then, they all open their envelopes at once and the squealing begins; therefore, Bid Day has been nicknamed Squeal Day.

Then it's picture time!!
